Basel Committee on Banking Supervision Consultative Document the New Basel Capital Accord.

I have been reading with interest one of the consultative documents which was published by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision in January.

I've extracted comments specific to what the committee calls ECAIs ( external credit assessment institutions ) on the attached Word document. The whole approach seems to me to favour the existing triumvirate (S&P, Moody's and Fitch) but at least the "eligibility criteria" are spelt out and available to be challenged, prior to May 31, 2001.
